Decidedly Jazz Danceworks (DJD) reimagines Shakespeare’s tragic tale with passionate choreography, a live jazz band, a hip-hop narrator and a female perspective. In this striking original dance piece, inspired by the classic tale of the star-crossed lovers, Artistic Director Kimberley Cooper has created a new world for these themes of love and violence to wrestle and play.
Adapted by Cory Bowles (Trailer Park Boys), with original live music by Nick Fraser, this work gives new breath to one of Shakespeare’s best known and loved works with twists and turns sure to delight audiences in the re-imagining of this passionate and violent tale.
Experience it live in downtown St. Catharines in the stunning FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre on Thursday, November 14 at 7:30pm. The arts live here!
Contest closes at midnight on 10th of November 2019.
For the past 35 years, DJD has been considered one of the only companies worldwide with jazz dance and music as its raison d’etre. DJD’s high energy and unique style has been described as “music for the eyes.”
