One-to-One

As a dancer, Toronto-based Benjamin Landsberg has been involved in processes where the choreographer gives notes when a movement or act is too descriptive or desirable. For his own work, he wonders about the possibilities of doing just that, spelling it out for the audience – disco music, lip-synching, bitchiness and all. This is what he and dancer Natasha Poon Woo get into in One-to-One, seen here, Landsberg’s piece for dance: made in canada/fait au canada this past August as part of the festival’s What You See Is What You Get Series. Landsberg has no immediate plans for remounting the duet, but he shares that he wants to expand it into a longer evening work.
