If I Should Stumble

Two quotes set the scene for Jenn Goodwin’s If I Should Stumble:

“Vertigo is the conflict between the fear of falling and the desire to fall.” – Salman Rushdie

“Sometimes when things fall apart, they are actually falling into place.” – Unknown

If I Should Stumble was created by Jenn Goodwin in 2014 for the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. It was created in collaboration with and performed by Anita Nittoly, Sarah Doucet, Zoja Smutny, Brandy Leary, Kaja Irwin, Jasmyn Fyffe, Lua Shayenne, Nicola Pantin and Caroline-Niklas Gordon. The site-specific work is interested in “the cracks in ones’ confidence, the spectacle of a persona, the faux pas’, missteps, mistakes and the beauty and tragedy of day to day life,” according to Goodwin, and was performed again in 2016 for the same event.
