Variations S By Julye Huggins

Coming up March 21st through 23rd at La Rotonde, Cas Public presents Variations S, a work for young audiences that re-imagines a 100-year-old masterpiece. Choreographer Hélène Blackburn has long had an interest in Serge Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes and their infamous 1913 work Sacre du printemps. Drawing on its themes (spring, sacrifice, the chosen one), she offers an intense and fiery re-interpretation for eight virtuosic dancers, paired with a new experimental score by turntablist, musician and composer Martin Tétreault.
