Carte Blanche

3 O'Clock in the Afternoon By Julye Huggins

The Norwegian contemporary dance company Carte Blanche is hitting Canada, first at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa with 3 O’Clock in the Afternoon (February 22-23) and then taking Corps de Walk to Place des Arts in Montréal (February 28-March 2) and the Vancouver Playhouse (March 22-23).3 O’Clock in the Afternoon is choreographed by the award-winning Ina Christel Johannessen and features a curious set design with five doors. These portals, hinting at worlds beyond, are meaningful passages that separate and connect the dancers. As described on the presenter’s website, “the poetic work explores boundaries – those existing in minds and bodies, and across geography and politics.” The cast includes Caroline Eckly, Jennifer Dubreuil Houthemann, Guro Rimeslåtten, Christine Kjellberg, Núria Navarra Vilasaló, Sara Enrich Bertran, Ole Martin Meland, Shlomi Ruimi, Edhem Jesenković, Simbarashe Norman Fulukia, Christopher Flinder Petersen, Mathias Stoltenberg and Timothy Bartlett. Also, check out the video below to see a preview of Corps de Walk, another show they are touring to Montréal (February 28 - March 2) and Vancouver (March 22-23).
