In late April, I was an invited guest at the Northwest Network of Dance Festivals. The network brings together five major international dance festivals, located in three different states of the northwest region of Mexico: Sonora, Sinaloa and Baja California. Over a period of two weeks, I presented a talk on the development of Canadian video-dance entitled “Northern Exposures.”

Simon Fraser University Bhangra Flash Mob

In 2010, South Asian Arts began teaching the first university-accredited bhangra course in North America at Simon Fraser University. On April 7, 2011, for their final project, the students performed a Bhangra Flash Mob outside Rogers Arena in Vancouver, immediately following the unveiling of Roger Neilson’s statue before a Canucks game.
