Submission Guidelines and Specifications

• Reviews of single performances should not exceed 1000 words in length.
• Reviews of entire festivals or multiple-day events should not exceed 1500 words in length.
• Submissions must be accompanied by the writer's full name, city of residence, telephone number and email address.
• Submissions must also be accompanied by a 100-word biography.
• Reviews will be sorted by date posted.
• Reviews and responses must be accompanied whenever possible by accurate and detailed performance information for our listings, including: date the writer attended, full dates and times of performance run, name of performance or piece, name of artist and/or company, venue and address, presenter, box office phone number.
• Ensure the accuracy of factual information including dates, spellings of artists' names and art works.
• Material chosen for posting and/or publication may be edited for length and clarity.

What we look for:

• Description of the work (what you saw)
• Response to, or opinion of the work (how you felt or thought about it)
• Analysis of your response or back up for your opinion (why you felt or thought what you did)
• Discussion of context, background or bigger picture (how does this work relate to other works you've seen; other art forms; personal experiences; social, cultural or political situations or events; etc.)
• While some reviews may address only a few of these points and others may touch on several or focus on one point in particular, we encourage well-rounded submissions.
• Provide lots of information, use lots of descriptive words and make a strong case for your point of view.

Please avoid using:

• Inappropriate language including harmful or abusive language, expletives, profanities, obscenities, hate speech or harassing, offensive, vulgar, sexually explicit language.
• Personal information found outside the public material made available at the performance, i.e., no emails, phone numbers, mailing addresses, web sites or other such information.
• Promotional messages or advertising material.
• Illegal material.
• Copyrighted material without permission of the owner.
