New Works at Night: O.Dela Arts ‘Rematriate’ and ‘Gateways’ (World Premiere). As part of its evening series New Works at Night, New Performance Works Society presents the latest creations by O.Dela Arts, home of Indigenous Contemporary Choreographer Olivia C. Davies. Audiences will have the opportunity to witness the world premiere of ‘Gateways’, an ensemble piece that brings together artists from Canada and New Zealand, and the remount of ‘Rematriate’, a solo work, which premiered at the Dancing on the Edge festival in July 2018. ‘Gateways’ questions how we open and close the creative spaces of our bodies and our awareness to the environmental space we inhabit in creation. Dancers include Louise Potiki-Bryant, Jasmin Canuel, Kelly McInnes, Rianne Svelnis, and Olivia C. Davies. Gloria May Eshkibok serves as Cultural Advisor, and Natasha Kanapé Fontaine and Lara Kramer act as Outside Eyes. Music by Michael Red. ‘Rematriate’ is a solo created and performed by Olivia C. Davies in response to the patriarchal systems that hold society hostage to continual technological advancement and an ever-growing disconnection to reality. Dramaturgy for this piece is by Michelle Olson and Jo Leslie. Projection by Elysha Poirier, lighting by Jonathan Kim and music by Paddy Free. O.Dela Arts was founded in 2018 to support Olivia C. Davies in the creation and production of choreography, community-engaged projects, creative collaboration projects and commissions. Tickets are $20 online, $25 at the door.
