Amy Bowring

Amy Bowring is director of research at Dance Collection Danse and founder of the Society for Canadian Dance Studies. She studied dance and related theory and has an MA in journalism. 

Amy was The Dance Current’s copy editor from the November 2000 issue through to the September/October 2013 issue, and news blog editor from 2009-2013. Writing for the magazine since its very first issue, Amy has been an editorial advisor, board member, fact checker, proof reader, go-to historian and mentor to many.

Nancy Lima Dent, 1919-2013

Pioneering modern dance choreographer Nancy Lima Dent died on February 15th, age 93, at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Born in Toronto to Italian immigrant parents, Lima Dent was not allowed to study dance as a child but did study piano at the Toronto Conservatory of Music.
